As you have read in other posts, the deer management in PA is rated highly when campared with other states. Because of the many whiners who contacted the Legislature wanting the "guvment" to help them kill a deer, the "guvment" authorized a deer audit by an outside organization. The PGC and other real sportsmen's organizations supported the idea but of course the proessional know-nothings from the USP were not convinced. It appears that the audit, to be done by Wildlife Management Institute, is underway and it may even be completed by this coming Fall which would be ahead of schedule. The team doing the work for WMI will be made up of a diverse group of biologists, none of which are from PA.

To the likely chagrin of the whiners, they will not count deer or define how many deer there should be but will evaluate methods used by the PGC and establish if their results can be understood by the public. Interesting that the word "public" was used, not "whiney hunters", when understanding was the goal.:D

Venado,

Some of those "whiney hunters" you disparage are duly elected Representatives and Senators here in PA, who listen to their constituents. Many are landowners and are not impressed with the current deer decimation by PGC. Obviously you do not approve of representative government. Tough bounce.

If you wish to inform these folks, send me a PM and I will give your their email addresses so they can benefit from your PA insight. You can start with Senator Joe Scarnati, Pro Tem of the PA Senate. He is probably waiting to hear from you. LOL. You vote where?

Badger says elsewhere:

Ok, I am a slow learner.

Venado agrees. Put that down folks, Ven and Badger agree on something...!

To attempt to infer that I do not support representative "guvment" because I don't whine to my Legislator to help me kill a deer is a mentally weak effort at best. Badger it was a serious mistake for you to have skipped over that critical thinking class in order to make an "A" in basket weaving.

BTW Badger, just what has your whining done either for you or your state? From my perspective it appears that the herd reduction that you whine about is a done deal with HR essentially complete by 2009. Also from my perspective your whining has caused the agency in charge of your wildlife to work with inadequate funds that effect many of their other duties, and yet they still have effectively overseen the HR. It must be painful for you to always be out of step with sound practices.

As a side note, were I to provide my opinion to someone, Sen. Jake Corman is the more logical choice for me.

Venado, I have to agree with your posts in their entirety, with the exception of one point. The PUS (PA. Unified Sptmn.) did support the audit from the very beginning and some have even made the arguement that they were the first to call for one. Of course they never in their dreams thought it would happen (they were blowing smoke), but to their dismay all the other sportsmans org's plus a few others called for one too.
The PUS's has 2 of their top guys on record, after the audit was approved, as saying they welcome the audit and spoke highly of WMI, the outfit choose to do it. Realizing now that this independent audit will verify all their claims to be false, they are now on a campaign to discredit the same outfit they earlier had given praise to. They once again want to exploit those sportsmen and women who don't pay attention on a weekly or even a monthly basis, and don't know the facts or details. It's like the dems do with sound bites and headlines in the mainstream press.
