My step son's father-in-law always goes out to CO. for the early muzzle loader elk season and they seem to do pretty well. I've been kicking around getting a muzzle loader and an early elk hunt would be as good a reason as I could think of. It would extend my deer season around here too. I can usually find something else to do besides washing down a muzzle loader bore as often as they want you to, so I have been looking at the Savage .50 caliber that uses smokeless powder. Is that a legal alternative to black powder, Triple 7 or Pirodex and even are all of those legal in CO.? How about scopes? Do people use those or are only iron sights okay? Thanks.
