WEll, it has been a real roller-coaster ride with the little pocket pistols we purchased a few weeks ago. It seems as though the idea of comfort and ease of carry got to much priority over the reliability and accuracy department. :(

I just want you to know, that all is well and has been addressed by putting those little KEL-TEC's model PF-11, PF-9's and let's not forget about those cute little Ruger LCP's that are more apt not to fire than a struck match, on a slow boat perhaps to CHINA.

Instead it is back to the norm of using what works 100% of the time and not having to purchase special ammo to get them through their daily tasks of functioning as they should by going BANG when you pull that trigger.

Yesterday I felt sorry for a couple GLOCKS in the case and decided to give them a good home in our safe and vault. A new GLOCK 27 (.40S&W) and it's big brother the GLOCK 22 also a .40 S&W caliber. All is now peaceful on the home front and no more cheap pocket pistols again.:(:D

Hi Ball,

I agree, 100% reliability is the first priority.

Badger this whole thing was brought by the fact that my wife wanted something that was very easy to hide and also extremely light in weight. Only now after about 5 frigging pistols......One always looses money trading pistols or most any item for another :( How ever now she has come to her senses and I too in that regard trying to apease her.

Those GLOCKS and SIGS simply work time and time again without JAMS and Misfires my dear friends. The only thing that I know might be better in reliability as far as "conceal carry" goes, is a REVOLVER of good quailty like a Smith & Wesson or Colt.

I have jacked around trying a dozen brands of ammo in those little cheap pocket pistols and what brand works in one, will in fact NOT work in the other pistol we had. Also one does not need to worry as to weather you are within the range of usefullness with those little pistols.

Hells Bells, our Glocks or Sigs can be shot out to 50 yards with no problem, as long as one can see that far understand. You get 30 ft back with one of those pocke pistols and you may was well try hitting the target with a brick bat......lots of luck their my friends. A MAX range for most people will be 12 ft but some might stretch that out to 21 ft on a good day.

Interesting!

I have a Kel-Tec P-3AT that I carry frequently. With a mix of Speer Gold Dots and FMJ's in the magazines, it's always shot well and reliably. It's not made for any distances (and wasn't designed to be), but up close and personal it does quite well.

Personally, I've never cared for Glocks.

MO-MIKE.....Now as Bill Mc stated in his post some time ago, the .380-auto is a "get the guy off your back pistol" I ran tests on the Ruger LCP, KEL-TEC 11 and the PF-9, which are 9mm Luger calibers. We used somewhat HOT defense ammo too!

In soaked newspaper, the .380-auto did almost 4 inches on average and that was being shot at a distance of 6 feet, not 20 yards like some people have told me in the past.....that is simply BS period.

OK getting back to the penetration test we ran in that newspaper, the 9mm Luger penetrated over 7.5 inches if my memory serves me correctly. My 45 acp did 8.6 inches and the 40Smith & Wesson did about the same. Later that week, I tried my 10mm GLOCK 20 and it penetrated all the way through the stack of wet paper over 12 inches as I remember.

The PF-9 KEL-TEC is a great little pocket pistol, you just have to find out what ammo your pistol likes and stay with that OK. My wife's PF-9 and my PF-9 would not shoot the same "self defense" ammo, hers would JAM up. I got rid of both the KEL-TEC's as I feared they would NOT work when the time came and the wife has a problem with her wrist sometimes.:D

Isn't that what I said: "up close and personal"?

"In soaked newspaper, the .380-auto did almost 4 inches on average and that was being shot at a distance of 6 feet, not 20 yards like some people have told me in the past.....that is simply BS period."

Refer to above comment. ;)

"you just have to find out what ammo your pistol likes and stay with that OK. My wife's PF-9 and my PF-9 would not shoot the same "self defense" ammo, hers would JAM up."

Not unusual. Even .22's have that trait.

"The PF-9 KEL-TEC is a great little pocket pistol, you just have to find out what ammo your pistol likes and stay with that"

AMEN, BROTHER! that's what I'm trying to say.

Something may not work for you, but that doesn't mean it may not work for someone else.

"... and the wife has a problem with her wrist sometimes." I have heard that how you hold a semi-auto pistol has a lot to do with how well the pistol functions. Some people blame the pistol when in fact they are limp wristing it. That is probably why a double action revolver like MOGC's isn't a bad choice for a lot of people. Anyone who has ever run a cap pistol can operate a revolver. That simplicity of use maybe favors a revolver in a tense situation anyway. Remembering to thumb off a safety or cocking back a hammer isn't much to remember, but under stress people forget some pretty basic things.

Hells Bells Bushman, I even forget to sweep off the safety of my 45acp Kimbers sometime. Not a good thing if your going to carry that model pistol!
Well, I went to the Glocks just because of that factor and it has "nothing" to do with one training or prior shooting skills simply put. It is however, a matter of brain power to overcome the thought process. I have eliminated that process in my handgun work with a pistol. The Glocks work everytime out the gate and I put rounds on target almost .3 of a second faster than before with my Kimber 45.;) :D
