I planed to go fishing to an area on Erie where I knew the walleyes were biting really good.
A buddy called (who's usually got very good info), and said they were "Killing Them" at a spot that was an additional 60 mile drive.
I hemmed, and hawed, thought, and doubted, but finally took the drive. :( :( :(

I'll have to say, the fish locater screen was a sight to see, Perch were 2 to 5 feet thick on the bottom at 65 to 72 feet down and the school was unbelievably large. I couldn't put down a worm harness without it being picked clean in 3 minutes, but I wanted Walleye. I had to run out to over 100 feet of water to get away from them.

Walleyes....
None, Nada, Zip, or as my Brother-In-Law use to say, "A Great Big, Red Eyed, No No Nothing"... Total wasted day, I got skunked
I would guess they gorged themselves on perch the night before with the big bright moon we had.

To make it worse, I called him at the end of the day, and he had another "Report". Another friend just called him, and told him how he limited out in the spot I had planned to go to in the first place.

I got busy.

A few weeks ago I was white perchin and had caught a nice one when a friend rode up and told me where he'd slayed em a few hrs earlier. I ran over there with him and we got in the fish

... but at the end of the day, the first fish remained the biggest.

I've spent a good bit of time pondering the move.

My wife and I were fishing a trout river 3 years back, and really got into a run of them, big wild males fanning our redds in clear fast water. We slayed them for about 40 minutes with the fish averaging 17", didn't catch any under 15". Seems like we caught 13 or 14 in that short time. I even broke one off on 4lb line with my drag set, the fish just manhandled my set up until he got arounnd an obstacle. We head off to find my dad and get him into some fish. We drove 4 miles to get him, got back to the run, and it was practically barren. We struggled to catch 2-3 more fish in an hour and finally left frustrated.

Dad said "I appreciate the thought, but never leave fish that are 'on'."

So much for good deeds.
