I have a 9mm & 1911 45 that I use to plink with. Thinking about a Springfield XDM in 40 cal. It really is something I don't have to get, but I kinda want one. Are they worth the money just to have another toy to play with?

I went through that. Let time pass, and see if you still desire it. Usually, it's just a temporary fad. I really like my Ruger 22/45 because I like the grip angle and because I can shoot it here in the yard anytime. Also, because, though not right now, but usually it is cheap to shoot. I would just give it time and see if the desire lingers.

In regards to the XDM they are a quality pistol with several features upgraded from the standard XD.

Grip angle of the XD/XDMs fit my hand very well and the pistol just seems to point to whereI'm looking.

The XDM's come with a more wear resistant coating and lets not forget a higher capacity magazine.

I just cant warm up to the striker fired pistols, and for several reasons prefer a automatic with a hammer.

If I was going to purchase a new pistol today it would probably be a CZ PO7, and save around $100 from the cost of whatI've seen XDM's go for.
