Last week we were looking over our bird houses and discovered a black snake in one of them which we promptly killed and buried. I noticed some lumps in him but didn't cut him open to see. I had my suspicions though as one of the rabbits just had little ones.

Yesterday I pulled the nesting hutch from the back of the cage to check and wasn't surprised to find it empty. :(

Then I was mowed the old graveyard behind my property and the lawnmower uncovered another black snake lurking about which I mowed up pretty good. :D

Having terrible luck tryin to raise little animals so far this year. :o

neat little townhouse. :)

Do you have a wire floor on the dirt?

No wire floor. Her townhouse is only a place to hang out when we are home and she is out. If we are gone, she lives inside, in our bedroom. Kinda like a cat with a quick change poop box :o .

every time I've put rabbits on the ground, they dug holes and were out of sight within minutes. ... maybe they like the semi-sandy land here.

Yep, back when we had many more, they stayed outside, but I sort of climate controlled their area with tarp and heater in winter, and fans in summer, and they dug out quite often. But now, Mishap is the last bunny we have. :)

I keep mine shaded in summer and protect them from the wind in winter but that's it.

I was at a job today and noticed rabbits next door. Went over there to make friends and wound up making a deal on a beautiful grey female for five bucks. :)

The saddest thing I have seen is back in 97. We lived more in the old burbs due to my Wildlife & Fish job. Anyway, a neighbor had a rabbit, the kind that the ears won't stay up. She obviously never been out of the cage. We took her out and let her play in our yard by our bunnies, and she ran a square in the open yard, a square the same size as that cage. It was ingrained in her. What a shame.

About the townhouses. At one time I had several of them and I had them set up like a mini city block, with addresses on them. When a cat came near, they would all rum up the ramp, upstairs, and start thumping. It sounded like drums. I would go out and chase the cat away. I live trapped the cats and hauled them across the Ms river and turned them loose.

I have released some neighbors cat's downtown near restuarants I know have rodent problems because I did not want them reclaimed at the pound. Call i a community service.

I sure hope you did not release in the country to work on quail and other small animals. After feral cats destroyed the covey on my father's place Ideclared war that only ended when he sold and moved to town.

Stray crats don't get a break around here.

I released a live one from a foothold once. Once.
