Does anyone still use the old Schrade or Marbles staked leather fixed blades.
If so what model do you use.I sure would love to see some of your fixed blade pictures.

I have a stacked leather Marbles. Can't remember the model for sure but I think it's a trailmate or fieldmate ? Don't use it much though because I've never figured out what the blade design is really good for. Not much so far as I can tell.

I have some stacked leather handled knives. Also an Estwing axe with the same type grip. In fact, my first fixed blade knife was about a four inch Ka-Bar with stacked leather. Unfortunately, I don't have a digital camera.

I think stacked leather is relatively comfortable in cold weather. If it is rough finished like the military Ka-Bars, it even offers an OK grip. However, the varnished leather on some handles can get pretty slippery if you get blood or fat on it.

Excellent---thanks for the photo!

My ancient Ka-Bar looks a bit like the knife at the bottom left of your picture.

Well that would explain it then!:D

Unfortunately, mine suffered damage in a burst pipe incident in the late 1970s so it doesn't look that nice.:(

Love them stacked leather handles. You have a very fine collection, tpaulos.

Here are a few I've owned over the years. A Dozier Classic skinner, Marbles Ideal, Marbles Expert that I re-handled, and the last two I made myself.

Spectacular work!

I like the rustic look of the washers on that skinner that is second from the bottom. I'll bet they provide an excellent grip.
