This is important stuff. The local utility red flagged one of my water heaters because it was pumping out carbon monoxide because the vents were plugged. I was in Sears over the weekend and reading that it should be done a MINIMUM of once a year. The unit in one of my rentals was pulling lint in from the laundry area. For all I know they could have been venting the dryer inside to save the heat. Anyway, next time past the water heater check out those vents right above the floor and clear them out with the vacuum.
While you are at it, check out the cloths dryer duct past the first lint filter. Mine was full of additional lint and was a fire hazard. It made the dryer run harder and probably hotter too.
