Walked out of Academy with a bag of Deer Cocaine, another Moultrie D40, and some batteries.

I am going to test the cocaine here on my land out front where I always see them. I will put out a camera to watch it all night. I will post daily info and pics regarding visits or lack of. :)

I guess your a deer maintenance shooter, true hunters rely on woodsman knowledge not deer cocaine or corn. I do a lot of deer management but I prefer hunting the big woods and relying on my knowledge I have learned over my 56 years. use of bait is used by cheese-it lovers :D I like cheese it too so don't offended.

The cocaine is for my land. I hunt the NWR so I cannot use it there. The camera, I have to take it back tomorrow. I just found out that the feds outlawed trail cameras on the refuge. they also outlawed my limb saw. Now I cannot even possess my limb saw. but by golly I can use a 45/70 rifle as a primitive weapon. And they relaxed the bowhunter certif. req.

Yep, Now I can't use my climber, since there's always a limb in the way. I got the file out tonite on the camp. I am tallying how much we got in it, so as to know how much to ask. When I bring the camera back tomorrow, I'll swing by Home Depot and get a couple FOR SALE signs. I'll list it on La Sportsman too. It is over folks. Ol Lamp is throwing in the towel. The Feds ruined the refuge.

You mean a regular guy can bowhunt the refuge?

What do you mean a regular guy ? Like just a non-technical guy out for a recreational stroll ? Yeah, I guess so nc. I'm just pissed. WTF does a trail camera hurt ?

I noticed they added a sentence to the usual No Bait paragraph, which now includes words such as mineral & salt. All joking aside, me and another fellow did find a suspect area last year and we did drop a dime. I'm betting they outlawed cameras so that enforcement doesn't get their pic taken while snooping around. Why else would the Federal Govt. outlaw a game camera on a NWR ?

I have to pay this year because the farmer will be sending the lease bill very soon. But if it doesn't work out and there's an influx of xbow guys, I'm sure I can sell the camp.

Yall feel free to answer here why yall think they outlawed trail cameras. I'm ( how'd that irate customer of mine say ? ) PerPlexed! :D

I think your answer for outlawing trail cams is a good one.

I just found out that the feds outlawed trail cameras on the refuge.

Does this apply to all refuges or just that one?

Got a link?

Probably LA & MS. Those refuges are pretty independent of each other, but I called this morning, and they said there was a big pow wow of Managers from several refuges and this is what they come up with. The guy was evasive when I asked why. I think it is an enforcement issue. A baiter would catch an agent on his camera and would quit baiting.

I got the tree saw issue solved. Also I brought the new camera back and got a new pair of work boots.

work boots, rubber boots , tennis shoes, I've hunted in them all, just as long as there rubber you can slip in.
I don't know of a WMA who will allow anyone to use a saw. You have to scout if you know how.

Damn... from the sounds of it, a guy would either have to put in the scouting time the hard way, or just take his chances based on sign he found during his hunt. And maybe he'd even have to hunt from the ground some times, of all the crazy things.

Hell, that sounds like work to me. I'd quit, too, if I were you....

Seems to me that you're just dying to give up on hunting and you just need a good enough excuse to tell to your buddies who are still hard-headd enough to stick it out. What are you waiting for? If you love hunting, then by all means stick it out. If you don't, then just stick it.

Don't you'uns know nothin'?

It's a conspiracy, man!

The ban on trail cams is because they've got a top-secret BigFoot reintroduction program goin' on down there, and they don't want any pictures comin' out and getting leaked to the press. Not only that--they're coverin' up for the man-eating mountain lions that they released so that the BigFoots would have somethin' to keep 'em on their toes...Only trouble is, the lions prefer widows and orphans and they're havin' to cover up a string of 'mysterious disappearances' down there....

The game cameras were a new hobby. Hunting a spot based on their information was not the primary goal. You see, I let so many many deer walk each year once I get my smoked sausage , I was going to collect pics of various animals. Something to do. Since I seldom pull the trigger, I enjoy scouting in and of itself. That is why I bought such a nice GPS unit. I enjoy covering new land and exploring as much as hunting, or more. I am a "Marty Stouffer Wannabe" . So banning my cameras just eliminated a usage of a public NWR.

Still don't understand ? Look at it this way:

Activities on NWR include:
1) hunting
2) fishing
3) hiking/exploring
4) Wildlife photography, including remote cameras

so, they took away a public usage. THE LAW SHOULD READ LIKE THIS

No person shall deploy remote trail cameras whenever a big game season is in progress.
