Just a little update in case it jogs anything for any of you guys....
I checked the BowTech website and they only spec one cable and/or string length for each bow, so matching that length to the mod appears not to be the issue.
Interestingly enough, though, the cable length spec for this bow changes with model year, so I suppose it's possible that I got a mis-match on there that way.
Looks like the '08 model cables are 1 1/8" longer than on the '07 (off-set by the string being 13/16" shorter) but that leaves the combination a net 5/16" longer on an '08 than an '07... So if I got '08 cables on an '07 bow??? Even if I had an '08 string, that would probably take a little of the smoke off of it.
It does appear, though, that I don't have the shortest available draw length on this rig after all; they make mods numbered 1-6, and I've got a 5.5, so evidently I could take the draw length down another half inch if I were of a mind to... I suppose really hitting that back wall would make me more consistent... Anybody have a clue what the mods would run???
Anyway, it's just really frustrating, but I think I've narrowed it down:
The limb sticker gives the model year and the specs for string and cable lengths, so the shop owner shouldn't have been able to make an honest 'mistake' unless is something else at work here.... He didn't replace my string, only the cables; so either he put on the wrong length because he never checked the limb sticker, or the sticker has the wrong info on it.
Hmmmmm.......... Anybody think of a third or 4th option? I can't come up with anything that doesn't make me awfully worried about what the heck that bow went through before I got my grubby hands on it![]()
